When Stuart Crewes said he was organising an Exeter event curating art that you can’t buy, into non-gallery spaces across the city – we couldn’t miss out. We like making mobile objects that recycle old stuff. We like sharing videos in unusual spaces. We really like hearing what people think about where they live and how they live. So, we’ve reclaimed an old garden wagon (thanks Philip), borrowed some fold down chairs (thanks Carolyn), and built a traveling bay window to tour around the city centre on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd March as part of NOSE (Not Open Studios Exeter).
5 Minutes Dreaming is an invitation to stop for a moment and contemplate Exeter city centre as if it belonged to you. Join us on the streets for a cup of tea and a chat about what’s going on in front of our window.
Our route around town over the two days is outlined on the map above (in lime green with a red edge) with the other NOSE events. It’s impossible to know where we’ll be exactly at any given time, depending on how long it takes us to move the window around, how many people we meet, and what the weather’s like. We’ll be starting at the Odeon roundabout at 10am on Friday and see where that leads us… it shouldn’t be hard to spot us! We’ll also tweet our location every half an hour or so @thiscityscentre and you can tune into the phonic.fm NOSE show to find out more.
If you like dreaming about the things you imagine happening in This City’s Centre over a less draughty cup of tea, you can contemplate the views at one of the screenings about town. Look out for windows at the Bikeshed Theatre, The Living Room (Polsloe Rd), Hanger 124 and Off the Hook in Fore St, Exeter Community Centre . Tweet us your thoughts @thiscityscentre
